Tom and Lois Newsome set out to recreate the trip, leaving Perth WA on 26 October 2002 in a similar 5CV. "The Citroen 5CV has a 856 engine that develops 11-hp, providing [it] with a top speed of 60 kmh. On the original run, the 5CV averaged 42 miles per gallon despite appalling road conditions." - C.
