1908: Harry Dutton and Murray Aunger drove from Adelaide to Darwin in a 25hp Talbot; the trip took 50 days.

Bean
The Aus. National Museum, Canberra, holds the 1924 Bean 14 Sundowner 4-cyl. car of Francis Birtles and Alec Barlow which, in 1926, they drove from Darwin (22 Oct.) to Melbourne taking 8 days and 13 hours.
- In 1927/28 the car was driven from England to Melbourne taking 10 months.
- 2024: Warren Brown and "Matthew Benns, plus a support vehicle and crew, re-enacted the original journey (as far as is practically and safely possible). ..." in a similar (1925) car.
